I went and rented this house and in the yard at the back of the bedroom window were 2 carrier bags full to the brim with old pennies and three penny bits there were thousands of them.

And ya know what i did in my wisdom i picked them all up they were very heavy and i threw them in the TRASH!!!!!!!!.because they just looked unsightly in the little flowerbed.

Now i cannot sleep good at night i keep thinking about these coins i threw away that day and its driving me insane.

Jimmy, don't worry about it bro, we have all done something that we wish we wouldn't have...There isn't much to be done about it, except to not regret it...Ya never know, you might make some poor guy really rich one day when he goes out metal detecting or something....:D Lots of possible outcomes from you throwing them in the trash, instead of taking them to the bank to cash in :p

    Ouch.

On the other hand, someone else might be enjoying them. Not all refuse makes it to the landfill. Depending on where you are and how they dispose of it all, the pennies are waiting to be discovered by a future archaeologist.

I believe that about 9000 or 10000 AD, robots will be mining Earth for artifacts of humanity and cataloguing everything. They will find your coins, identify the dirt, and cross index it to your house and you and the archives of this website.

Also, I do throw stuff out. When I find Nazi coins in bulk lots of world, I pitch them into the wastebasket. Once, coming back from a road trip, I saw the difference in the Red Book between what I bought and what I got and tossed a $10 purchase out the window and never looked back. And on a happier note, speaking of gardens, we have had three homes in five years and I have buried mixed lots of coins -- ancient and modern alike -- in each. Let the archaeologists think about that for a while. About 4000 AD there will be a blog in the Titan Journal of Terran Numismatics.

Yeah but think of all the time you saved not having to sort through them. I bet your garden looked better :) Better yet maybe the trash monkeys took them and are hording them away
