A few...but they lasted a while longer. There is an A model of the die marriage with cracks on the reverse. Here's another one that had seen some use before striking mine.
I keep looking at the first S in States...I know it was positioned high, but it looks pretty much smeared at the top....is it damage, or wear? Maybe some strike weakness compared to S2?
I picked these up at an auction last night, an 1828 and an 1830 Capped Bust Half. 1828 mintage 3,075,200 and 1830 mintage 4,764,800 - relatively common for the type and less than $200 for both. I'm curious to research them for type / variety and all the fun that go with Capped Bust halves.
I only have 2, bought years ago from a guys father's collection that was passed down. Both in Blanchard flips marked AU/XF 1829, normal date, small letters. 1834, small date, small letters, small stars.
