No politics. If what he said offended you...I guess it's true, as much as I didn't want to believe it. We now live in the United States of the Offended. Somebody sneezes, someone says bless you, oh noooo you brought religion into my space. Waaaaaaaa! Maybe thay should pass a law that vocal cords are removed at birth so no wusses get offended.
Seriously, what ever happened to being tough skinned? People here are so easily offended by nothing. I can't imagine how some of you would react to the things I heard in the Marine Corps.
To anyone who felt offended at Enochian's observation, I'd sincerely like to ask "why"? What was it exactly about his statement that was offensive to you? I think we can all agree that slavery is bad, no matter who, when, where, why, etc. But that doesn't necessarily mean nobody should ever speak of it. It is my personal belief that if you never want to see it happen again, the worst thing you can do is let it get buried and forgotten in the past. Of course that doesn't mean we should take it lightly or make jokes about it, but I don't think that's what Enochian was doing.
So I'm a wuss? Lol. I am a stuntman, I can promise you I do things in my job on a daily basis that would make you soil yourself. I tried to be mature about it and explain why it didn't belong here but you took it to a childish level. You're acting more of a wuss about it, than I am. You took it personal that I didn't like the comment. Deal with it. For the record, I am not offended by what he said. It just doesn't belong on a coin forum. It has nothing to do with the topic at hand and enochian has a habit of saying some pretty questionable things from time to time.
I was a former cop, and firearms instructor. I went through 2 police academies. Granted it wasn't Paris Island, but during the course of time in the academies and my career on the street as a cop, I heard plenty of things as well. Again, I wasn't offended. I never said I was. I just didn't think it belonged here as it had nothing to do with the topic or coins.
Did I call you a wuss? You said what he said didn't offend you so I guess not. Seems to me you jump to conclusions more than you jump off cliffs and such. I said if what he said offended you, you are a wuss. If it didn't offend you, you just jumped on the bandwagon of people telling him he was such a naughty boy for saying what a coin looked like. He made an observation about a coin that was pictured on this forum and it doesn't belong here? I am confused.
You assumed I was offended or you wouldn't have written the comment. So yes, in essence you were calling me a wuss and/or saying I was crying about it with the waaaaaaa comment. I also didn't jump on any bandwagon. I was the first one to comment. I don't care if anyone agrees with me or not. I am not a follower. I'm done arguing about this, it's getting silly.
I'm personally not "offended" by it...I just feel that sometimes comments that can be percieved as "controversial" should be left unsaid to avoid pointless and off-topic arguing like what is happening now, before it evolves into personal attacks. I see nothing "politically incorrect" with the statement. My objection is that saying such things will almost always result in people taking offense to it, and that in turn will cause people to pointlessly argue and ruin the thread.
Well what i said would not have been rven considered offencive on a 1950s tv show lke this forum is sulposed to be heck look at the disney peterpan theres a lot o anti native americanism there
I could have went a lot farther with ky statment and it still would have been ok this aurgemt seems to realy be about me saying the words "not to offend any one " and you just wanted to start an augement. I said thors words for people like you for there not to be a augument now i see if i had not said this in my post and left my orginal statekent alone the op post would not have gone of topic
Is there any visable lamination on the reverse? That is really cool, never seen one that runs across the whole cent like that.
There are some interesting examples of improper alloy mixes (also known as woodies, and the cause for lamination errors). It seemed to be quite prevalent in the mid-70s as well as 1981 for some reason.
