When I saw the mintmark in the pictures below, I thought I had hit the 1953 D/D/D/S quarter. But now that I've had it under the microscope, I am not so sure. The picture in the middle is the mintmark on my coin. It looks flat, but there is no evidence of damage. The picture below mine is the D/D/D/S from CONECA. The tilt does not match up, nor are there any indications of the secondary mintmarks. Further, the die crack on the bust does not match. So what is it? The pictures on either side are the mintmarks listed by CONECA as the only quater mintmarks for 1953 and it doesn't look like either of them. The picture above is a CONECA picture of a cent mintmark from 1953. Is it possible that the cent mintmark punch was used on a quarter die? Any mintmark enthusiasts have any insights? (The CONECA pictures are from the Variety Vista web site)

    Have fun.
