Hello. Just joined and enjoy the site..... I saw an ad for bulk wheat pennies. There were about 4400 of them (1940's and up). Likely not the most sought after years but the price was $110 or about 2.5c each. Good price??? Thought about maybe purchasing them but advice/comments always good. Thanks

Well, copper pennies are worth 2.2 cents in melt (illegal to melt them, though), so not bad I'd say.

Bear in mind that they may have already been completely searched for any rarities.

    Welcome to the site :)

I wouldn't say that's a good price. If it was 1909-1958 then yes but for 40's and up I'd only pay about $80.

To me, sounds like $110 worth of just plain fun.

    Still fun

Although they may be well-searched for good dates, I have had incredible success searching these types of lots for varieties. Among others I've found both 1909VDB DDOs, several different 1936 DDOs including the better of the two in the CPG, al three 1941s in the CPG, both 1944 D/Ss, and the majority of the RPMs in the CPG. All tolled, I've picked out over 700 coins representing about 130 varieties. Spend a couple of days sorting them by date and mintmark and then open up coppercoins.com and go to town.

I would pretty much guarantee your bag is an RPM factory. Grab a 10x magnifier and have fun!

I wouldn't get it...but thats just cause it isn't really my thing. But 2.5 cents a piece is a good price...normally 3 to 4 cents is considered fair.

When you determine unit cost, you must include all factors including shipping. Shipping 4400 Lincolns will probably double your unit cost to 5.0c. As asked before, what are the shipping costs?

You can ship 4400 cents in the US with a medium flat rate box easily. The cost is $11.30. Anyone else who says otherwise is lying; trust me I ship out 30 lbs+ of cents a week and that's the only service I use.
