A few years back, I ordered 2 things from 2 different places around the same time. Neither item ever showed up. What happened to them is a mystery to this day...
My wife ordered some stuff from a company 20 miles away, here in Illinois. Said to UPS them. Figured next day delivery-- nope. Package went to the regional UPS Center in Wisconsin first then back to Illinois.
I hear you, since my wife has houses, but they are no big deal since they "aren't new". I hear you about the sois as well, but this package went to a small town. I think is morre endemic than that unfortuately.
You think 18 months is not a shock? Remind me what town you live in so that I never move there. Agree, 18 days would have been a worry.
Update. As of today, it has been "in transit (meaning in the hands of USPS)" for 13 days. It was mailed out the 17th from Oregon. It has not update tracking since it left Carol Stream, IL which was 9 days ago. I called the USPS, and informed them that my package could be lost, and asked for advice, they were very rude to me and proceeded to chastise me for not purchasing insurance (they always do that, because it's easier to blame YOU then to take blame for themselves). So I contacted the seller with the following: "It has been 12 days since my package was mailed out, and I have never received it, please advise what you would like to do.". The seller replied with "give it a couple weeks and I will issue you a refund". A couple weeks? I have already waited 1 day shy of 2 weeks, and now it appears it will be a full month into this whole mess before I get a refund. What ticks me off more, is that this usually happens when a seller tries to "beat the system" by sticking the coin in an envelope and sticking a stamp on there. You cannot mail coins on the machinable rate. It has to be non-machinable or 1st class parcel. To top it all off, I paid $4.00 for postage. If it turns out that the seller sent it the 45 cent method, I am going to leave appropriate feedback. If one spends $4.00 for postage, it should not be sent for 45 cents. It should go 1st class parcel, which is around $2.00
Well it wouldn't have tracking if it was a .46 cent envelope would it? Sometimes things get lost but show up eventually which is probably why he wants to wait a couple weeks longer.
True... you can't get tracking for a standard first class envelope. Still, $4 is excessive for a single coin, but since it has tracking it was probably shipped first class in a small packet for $1.64 (eBay's price with free tracking) or a little more if mailed from the post office.

Why did you need to start an entire new thread for this coin upon arrival? http://www.cointalk.com/t227356/ You could just have posted those pics in THIS thread.
