Yes, people! I have just ordered a bunch more coins for this month and I still have a few that I did not post last month. Expect lower and decent grade coins but of course not high grade. To start out the month just right I'll post a few scanner photos from a dealer friend who is sending the coins to me soon. I haven't tried to attribute just yet. A group lot of fairly nice Constantine era coins that I haven't attributed yet. These will probably fill several reverse types that I need. I got a decent deal for these and couldn't resist.
A super rare or uncommon Macrinus AE Denarius. I can't wait to get this one. For some strange reason, I like those AE Denarius coins of this era. I have one more new purchase and several others to post and a few that need to be cleaned that were a gift from a forum member. I will do that later.
Awesome ... it sounds like you'll be bombarding us with lots of great Gil-coins this month!! (I'm lookin' forward to seeing the show!!) :u*meY:
Any more information on this one? It's an interesting piece (based on the AE Denarius, I'm assuming it is a 3rd century piece)..
AE denarii of this era (early 3rd century) are quite common, but to get an AE Macrinus or Diadumenian (or Balbinus or Pupienus for that matter) ain't that easy ! I've seen them only a few times, and priced as a high grade silver ! On reverse the Macrinus has an ugly corrosion spot in the center, but that wont be a problem to preserve this coin. I'm convinced it will show more detail in hand ! Nice catch Gil !
Lot of nice-looking pieces there, Gil. And a Macrinus AE denarius...way to go. :thumb: Those coins don't exactly grow on trees.
