I managed to pick this PCGS 2.0 Slab out of a coin shop for $25. I guess I am a slab collector I'm not sure if I have posted this one yet, but I have had it for a few weeks now.
From my experience the Roosevelt dime would be the rattler. The mercury I think is more like the feel of today's slabs, just a few color differences and such. That Roosevelt is in one of the old old holders and I believe they are quite a bit smaller as well. Where as the mercury dime is close to the current slabs dimensions. Those are just my observations though, I don't mess with PCGS much so I could be wrong.
Colonial/Pitt Token 1766 Pitt token PCGS/CAC VF 20 obverse is complete reverse missing "ENDS OF LIBER" Full AMERICA very nice for the grade.
Just came in the mail this week. Here's my newest commem (seller's photos btw, far better representation of what I can do!). 1893 Isabella Quarter
Just about correct. The Rattler is Roosevelt, but the 2.0 slab is the next generation right after the rattler (1.0) The 2.0 slab is actually a bit fatter than regular PCGS coins and have a different stacking mechanism that I would compare to NGC's stacking mechanism. It does not have the four corner stacking, but a wide/close wraparound to stack.
nothing to special. bought my favorite type of government issued bullion and the girl bought a mediocre capped dime for her set and a capped half cause the price was right.
Simply because of the price tag on that coin. Its $500 (or more, likely more, in fact) and would look nicer in a fresh holder. Obviously he cared enough to say something about it and what choice do you have if you cant see your coin clearly. So logically i would just gather a group of coins i wanted graded/regraded/whatever and send this one along too. Whats $30 on a coin he obviously cherishes? I say not much at all, and might even get a scratch resistant holder to boot. Thats just me though.
The nicest raw 1948 S nickel I have ever had in my manly hands. I have also been herding some Buffalo lately. \
He could also send it back to PCGS for a reholder which is far less than a re-grade or cross grade. The problem is the price of shipping back and forth from the services.
