If you like to help people out and/or want to get a TON of likes, you clicked on the right thread.
All you have to do, is give me an honest, "real" answer to the following question
    Simple Right? Of course
    Heres the question:
Which pennies should I keep when crhing?!?!?!?!?
I have asked people before and no one answers. Should I keep all coppers? Only wheats?
Any information would be appreciated and liked.
    Thanks,
    AmericasPennies (JEB)

I started with a DANSCO Lincoln Cent book. I got a pile of cents from the bank and started separating them into 3 piles. One pile was year 81 or older. The next was 82 only. Then anything year 83 or newer.
Anything in awesome shape went into the book.
Anything 83 or newer that didn't make the book went into a can to be returned to the bank.
All the 82's were weighed to separate the coppers from the zincs.
Anything zinc goes back to the bank.
Anything copper goes into a can in the safe.

I don't search for minute die variations or errors. I'm not an expert on anything less then totally obvious. I like filling the book and hoarding some copper.
I like cats too, maybe it's related.

Search for the member noncents and private message him. He is the expert around here on cents. I don't search cents but I do know you should be looking for varieties/errors, key dates (check red book), and any nice MS AU wheats and such. Like i said though I'm no expert when it comes to penny searching. Look for noncents.

It's really all in how crazy/deep you want to get. I like a broad variety of things, but cents are just alot fun for some reason.

Good luck man, just go get $5 from the bank and start looking for treasure.

It depends. What do you want to collect? I personally keep all wheats for interest sake. If you want to hoard copper, pre-82 wheats are good for that.

I don't crh cents, but go through a lot of the in the till at work. I don't really look for errors other than obvious ones. Keep any wheats but looking for the 70s varieties for my dansco, and any pre 70 that still shines.

Got most of my albums through them. Fast and cheaper than most.

I would definitely keep wheats and anything earlier (an occasional Indian Head cent will pop up if you search through enough). Like many people mentioned, the pre 82 copper's if you want to save up in case they can melted some day. Error's as well. Many people keep CAM's and WAM's. I also keep cud coins if I find them.

Don't forget to weigh the 2009 Lincoln Bicentennial cents as well...the ones made for the uncirculated sets were minted in the original 95% copper composition and were not intended for circulation as well...might get lucky and find some that someone opened and spent.
