Hello fellow cointalkers! I am still a newbie to the world of coins and cointalk, but am really enjoying checking out the forums every morning and learning a little bit more one post at a time. So my questing is....What is this, and what is it worht? Thanks in advance for any responses!
I don't know what it is, but this looks like what you have. http://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/mexico-42-mm-bu-silver-medal-28-gr-218712613 Someone else here can probably give you some information. :smile
Maybe not, last time I checked nobody paid the fee Worthpoint required, me either. Obviously it's from a different country than the US, maybe one of out the US members will know something about it. :thumb:
I assume the Chamizal dispute. Obverse (lower left is JFK): Initiation - Culmination Reverse: Equity - Justice - Friendship http://www.nps.gov/cham/historyculture/chamizal-convention-postive.htm
Here it is. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1963-1866-M...D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 'tis silver!
Did you research any/all compositions used for this medal, or is this just an "I found it on ebay" assumption? Being as the same design was also made in gold, it would go to reason that another metal could have been used too. Not saying that there was, but this is something the OP should look into.
It is a medal made by Centro Numismatico in 1963 commemorating the settlement of the Chamizal dispute with the U.S. They made these in gold 42.3g, silver 32g and bronze 33.3g. All 42mm. Mintage unknown.
