Should I be disappointed?

I wanted to hear all of your opinions on some ebay ethics if you will. Basically, I purchased a coin for what I think was a great deal, but when the coin arrived it was looks pretty different than the listing picture. I still like the coin, especially for the price I paid, but do you think it's reasonable to ask for a small partial refund? I was really looking forward to the chocolaty brown color that was shown in the sellers pictures, but the coin is much darker of a black color in hand. I also noticed that there is a pretty noticeable ding on the reverse that isn't shown at all in the sellers pictures, I'm starting to think it could have been photoshopped. Anyway, what do you guys think?!

Here's a link to the original listing:

Here's my picture, I feel this is very accurate to what the coin looks like in hand:

The sellers pics make the coin look as if it's pitted and corroded. Your pictures show nothing of that nature.

My opinion is that you should accept the coin for what it is and not request a partial refund. Otherwise, send it back to the seller for a full refund.

I would not have bid on that coin from the seller's pics. My opinion is that you got lucky it turned out so much better than portrayed.

The sellers pics looks worse than what you took. If it was me I wouldn't have even bidded on the lot in the first place because of the sellers pictures.

If I bid on that based on the sellers pics and got what you did I would be pleased. So much so that if you don't like it don't send it back PM me.

I agree with all the comments above...you lucked out that it doesn't look like the pictures in the auction. A "partial refund" is a non-starter (imo)...either keep it or return it.

I concur with the others that you got a coin nicer than the one in the image(seller's goof?). At the price you got it at I would count my blessings, keep the coin and leave pository feedbag since the coin was nicer than the imaged coin in the auction.

Either send it back for a full refund & start your search over for another coin. Or accept the one received, that's appears nicer than the listed coin, & add it to your collection! Partial refund discussion & process seems not worth it.

Those are some terrible seller pics, but it's a stretch to think they're terrible enough to hide that reverse hit. I'd be suspicious, too, but I'll defer to those with more experience on whether you got a good deal.

Looks like he took a low resolution pic with flash while the camera wasn't still. He didn't manipulate the photo IMO. Nice coin and a great price! Be happy!

It's possible you got the wrong coin. You should ask the seller, and then see if you can have the other worse looking one. If it's the correct coin and you're not happy, ask for a full refund since it look quite different (better) in hand.

Asking for a partial refund on an auction is kind of tacky imo.

Thanks for the input everyone. I do agree the coin I received looks much better than the sellers pics. I am still a little upset about the color being way off, but for the price I paid I can't complain. I'll just end up buying another one for my album and setting this one aside. It certainly is the same coin though, you can see the marks above the hair on the obverse in both pictures, and the imperfections at each star, as well as the slight discoloration between the N and the I in UNITED on the reverse.
