Any ideas on a poormans dansco 7070 album? I have a whitman large type album, that just has the silver dollars, and halves up to 1965. Can I just get some dansco style pages, and make one myself? Has this already been done before? My googles did not show a poor mans Dansco.
You can try a "holed" 7070. There are actually some collectors I know that are currently working on this. The great news is you can buy real nice examples with holes for a really good bargain. Which makes this a compelling choice.
I was just thinking the literal paper album. The 7070s album sells for ~80-100. I have some holed coins ready to go! just need the album now. Also, proud of my $1 seated half dime from a coin shop auction. You can just make out the seated liberty on obverse...
Uggh. Holed coins are maybe the worst investment you can buy. If the coin numismatically rises in value, for example a key date holed morgan dollar, the morgan dolla does not raise in value. Usually worth melt or close unless rare.Personally, If I were to get a 7070 type dansco, I would want to have the actual coins, not doctored at all in the album.. Otherwhise it's not worth paying 80-100 bucks just for the album!
I am not investing in holed coins. I happen to have some holed coins that will fill a hole in a album. I am simply looking for alternatives to the danso album, as it is so expensive. Thanks.
You guys are missing the question! He is asking for a way to obtain a cheaper version with the same style as a "dansco 7070" album, not how to fill it :dead-horse:.
Exactly - I just want a way to display my growing U S coin typeset. I'm thinking just some 2x2s scotch taped to white thick paper stock...
What I Do for my sets is that I get a bunch of 2x2s and get the ones I need for example, my morgan dollar set. I keep all the spaces needed for all the dates and mintmarks of the morgan series, and put them in the folders for 2x2s, and once I get a 1899-O for example, I put it it's slot.
You can buy blank Dansco pages for each denomination and blank binders. I would guess the cost would be about the same as the 7070. Someone posted that they quit making the 7070.
Look into the General US coins, 7080. It's a dansco album but tell have a sheet for every coin denomination. You can then fill it with an example of every type with plenty of extras for extra coinage you come across.
Unless you are married to the brown of the Dansco Albums, Intercept makes a type album, pretty much exactly the same thing but green. It is 30 bucks on Wizard's coin supply.
Very nice presentation I think. The color shouldn't matter. The only problem is that the Braided Hair Large Cent hole is too small, but that's ok. Better than being too big. You could just use a razor blade and shave the appropriate amount away. Here is the link for it -> http://www.wizardcoinsupply.com/product/intercept-shield-album-united-states-type.html#tabs
From what I've been told, the new Dansco Type Set album will be coming out this fall. I'd save the money until then, if not, set up watch reminders on eBay, I've seen a few sell for as low as $22. Just have to be creative on how you look for things
