Maybe it's me that is misinterpreting what you say, but when you say "get rid of the cent", to me that means that they are only going to stop producing it. Wouldn't you still be sble to pick up rolls of cents at your local bank if the government stops minting them?

That's why I said its nothing accurate really. We have no clue what they will be worth in that time, but my point is stay away from any investment when you are buying something that is 4x-5x the value of your investment from the start. If I am investing in something I wouldn't want to pay much more than the current market value for anything. When you have lost out on value of your investment immediately it may have not been the best choice. Just my opinion. I just wouldn't want to see you over paying for something like that. Be patient and you'll find a good deal somewhere. Post on the wanted section here too, I am sure there are plenty of people on here looking to unload some wheats.

People go nuts over Wheaties, even though the 1959 Memorial has a lower mintage of any Wheatie (except the 1955-S) going all the way back to 1939.

That's cause they don't exist. The only one ever found was proven to be a fake.

If you want wheats, find a nearby coin auction. I got 898 for around $41.

and yet from 1909-1920, there were 2,413,601,000 minted. and these coins sell for less than the steels.

Uh, if you bought that lot for the bare minimum price (minus S+H), you would be paying nearly 25 cents per wheat. Sure, they were a 1 year type. But not everyone in the US is a steel cent collector. Not even 1% of the population is a steel cent collector. If you bought the linked auction, you would be paying 500 cents for 20 wheat cents. Does that sound like a good deal? Not to me. Heck, I've got 51 steelies right here in front of me. Sure, most have been replated. But if I got 25 cents for each one, I'd certainly send them off. I don't care much for them.
