    Because the Philippines were a US Territory back then.

    Most of the coins were minted in the US. If you look to the left of the date there is a mint mark. I can't tell what it is in the picture.
    It'll either be a D, S, or M.

    I know.. Did you see the Obverse..Mt. Mayon Volcano in our Province Camarines Sur in ALBAY, Philippines. that's all. Did you see the reverse it say. Phil, One Centavo.

    The coin is Philippine, but was minted at the Manila branch of the US mint which opened in 1920.

    Not a great deal, they can be found in really nice shape for about $12-15.

    The commonwealth pieces (40's) are not worth a ton, especially in mint state condition. However, the earlier pieces from 30-40 years back are highly collectible and have some nice key dates that value into the hundreds.
