I wish I could say that I collect Large Cents. But I can't because when I was a kid I misplaced them somewhere!!!! I only had a few, but it has driven me nuts for 25 years and I can't find them for the life of me. I didn't know much about the safe storage of coins as a 12 year old, so who knows where they are. If I'm lucky they'll show up in some not so obvious place some day.

Agreed on that. I have a few .999 silver coins in plastic holders. Everyone collects different things, mostly what they like. Some love older coins, and some like newer coins. If I ever was to pick, I would pick toners, mostly because they seem hard to find, and everyone is super unique

Right now I'm into collecting mostly Barber coins. Picked up some nice fine and vg examples of the quarters and halves that came in at a lcs recently. I like silver coins but the series I collect varies from time to time.

I've discovered that I'm most interested in archeological numismatics, and recently I've been delving into ancient coinage of various Arabian civilizations. It's about as obscure as you can get - a lot of the ancient collectors don't even care about cultures like the Himyarites, Sabaeans, and Nabataeans.

But for good old fashioned eye-candy, I've got Late Roman Bronzes and lots of Kennedy Half Dollars. If you can see the logic behind that, please tell me!

When it comes to collecting, John, who needs logic?

I like collecting worn also. I wonder if you could get morgans and peaces at melt from shops if they are super worn? Or even if they would take them

When I was a kid, before becoming interested in coins, I used to collect rocks and arrange them by color.

You COULD give up KFC and eat Broccoli & Steamed Rice. You'll live longer, see...and have more time to collect coins!
