Today I did my first estate appraisal of a coin collection! It was great. I spent 4.5 hours recording and valuing a collection belonging to two brothers who collected 25 years ago. The big items were a 1908 $20 No Motto St. Gaudens, an authentic 1876 California gold token 1/2 dollar, and a VF details polished 1889 CC Morgan Dollar. They had 14 rolls of silver Washington quarters and 14 rolls of silver Roosevelt dimes, etc. etc. It was a lot of fun, but I made 2 mistakes. 1. I didn't specify that payment was due upon completion (so I had to email an invoice - it was at their Mom's home and she couldn't pay me, but they're acquaintances, so I know they're good for it). 2. I might charge for drive time next time. It was a 40 minute trip each way.
Just for confidentiality purposes, I wouldn't state anybody's coin collection value like that. But congrats, I am glad you enjoyed it.
