You have a lot of good, honest coins there. Coins that were money to people. Coins that people got paid with, fed their family with, saved one or two at a time until they had enough to buy their first radio with.

Good stuff. The possibilities of the combined what, where, when & why of these coins' combined journeys is mind-boggling. Add in the family connection, and what you have is beyond priceless...

NoI would not slab them...after all I would think you'll never sell any of them......as they are truly priceless coming from your Grand Father. Maybe just save up get some nice holders like slabs and label them by date type and where they came from... then one day pass them on to your children or grand children. .....so they too can have the remembrance of your grand dad and you! And some where inbetween take them fishing.....as nothing is better than messing about in a small boat even thro the fish aren't bitting.....as the memory is ever lasting. Enjoy your coins they are Priceless!

Until you have found these coins in the manner that your grandad did you will have no idea at the happy moments he had with each find.
Its kinda like hitting the lottery you will know where each coin was found.
I have a bunch of these also and sometimes i like to get them out and think back to where i dug the coin and if it was a hot dry day or a cold winter day.
I kept records of them for a long time but found i didnt need them once you find silver you will never forget where it come from.
You are holding more memories than you will ever know.
Be proud you were made the new keeper of his joy

you can buy slab like holders do some research on line and you'll fine them, however I bet ya 90 % of us here would rather have our coins raw more so than slabed.

I personally wouldn't slab them. As paddy said, if you just want to make them look more "professional", don't pay $50+ by sending them to a TPG. But really it's up to you, do what you think would be the best for your coins.
