Hey Guys As you know I'm a pharmacist and into the register came about a dozen sivler coins, some of them are Franklin Halves and one Columbian in decent condition. the JFKs I'll get to later. What do you think of these catches and how would you grade them http://www.mrbrklyn.com/coins/halfs/columbian_obverse.png http://www.mrbrklyn.com/coins/halfs/columbia_reverse.png http://www.mrbrklyn.com/coins/halfs/franklin_1949.png http://www.mrbrklyn.com/coins/halfs/franklin_1949_reverse.png http://www.mrbrklyn.com/coins/halfs/franklin_1950_obverse.png http://www.mrbrklyn.com/coins/halfs/franklin_1950_reverse.png http://www.mrbrklyn.com/coins/halfs/franklin_1953_obverse.png http://www.mrbrklyn.com/coins/halfs/franklin_1953_reverse.png http://www.mrbrklyn.com/coins/halfs/franklin_1954_obverse.png http://www.mrbrklyn.com/coins/halfs/franklin_1954_reverse.png http://www.mrbrklyn.com/coins/halfs/franklin_1954_obverse_2.png http://www.mrbrklyn.com/coins/halfs/franklin_1954_reverse_2.png Ruben
Cool a pharmacist. Exactly what I'm going to school for. That's cool you found those. Interesting to see people spending those.
mrbrklyn How about making them about 25% of the size they are now?....we guys still on dial up can't view them and even when one comes up I would say the photos are too large to give a good grade. Speedy

On the 54 Halves---I would say VG... On the 53 Half I would say F. On the 50 Half I would say G/VG On the 49 halves I would say VG.... Nice finds for face value!!! Speedy
That 1953 is a D ad seems to still have a lot of Bell and Facial tone intact. The 1954 is an S and seems to have good detail. Ruben
What a moron (the customer), I mean seriously... argh, what a dumb thing to do. Congratulations on the coins, Franklins ARE my personal favorite of all coins. They seem to get $5/coin minimum pretty easily now.
I agree but they are still worn down to a low grade IMHO---the 53 is the nices---as andrgo said dealers are selling them for close to $5 at some places---I think my dealer still has them around $4.50 but haven't looked in the last few weeks. Speedy
Why do you say that? I thought that would be a fun, lucrative career. If you wish to reply to this post please do so in the General Discussion forum. The subject is not appropriate for this forum. Thank you for adhering to forum rules..
I'm happy to have my first Columbian. Its a nicer coin than I though, having it in the hand to look at. On the other issue you contacted me on the other day, email me directly and I'll talk to you about it. I think those systems can do more for you than you appreciate. Ruben
Sadly, it may not be the case , as maybe it was the only money some poor soul had to get their prescription, otherwise I'd agree. Nice finds at face though, mrbrklyn.
