So I just purchased a slabbed and somewhat monster toned 1881-O Morgan graded MS-65 by DCGS, Distinguished Coin Grading Service. Luckily I got it on the cheap, if its only really a 64 and the toning is AT I still did pretty good, but has anyone heard of this so called grading co.?
Here's a short page on Digital Coin Grading Service (DCGS). The only grading service with that acronym I could find.http://www.sampleslabs.com/dcgs.html
I would like to see this slab. There were at least two old companies that used those initials, Digital Coin Grading Service, and Distinctive Coin Grading Service. There may have also been a recent fly-by-night basement slabber using generic shells that also went by Distinctive Coin Grading Service (Not the same company as the older one.) I am not sure if the older Distinctive ever actually issued slabs under that name because they used it only very briefly between a name change between CCGS and NSCGS. (They were having problems trying to find a set of initials not already in use.) At this time I have not seen a slab from either of the Distinctive Coin Grading Services.
So onestepshort, whatever became of your Distinguished graded coin? Did you crossover to PCGS/NGC, and did the purchase pan out $$ or bust?
Very well, input appreciated. This is the only place I've found with Distinguished Coin Grading Service mentioned. I see others have written about Digital Coin Grading Service, but not Distinguished. Was just wondering the outcome. Apprec!
For what it's worth, link to a "The Distinguished Coin Grading Service" slabbed 1942S Walking Liberty Half, purportedly graded as MS66, up for auction. I hadn't heard of them before, searched on this website and found this chatter. https://www.invaluable.com/auction-lot/1942-s-walking-liberty-half-tdcs-superb-gem-bu-790428A9ED
