in the end i decieded to get the new addition as couple years down the line will still be usefull cost was 27.99 uk with free shipping from amazon so i thought that was reasonable as spinks on ebay are selling it for 39.99 uk.

I think the 1800-1900 edition i will most definetly get too this one seems less available in older editions and is more expensive in new so i need to find a good coin to sell to buy it.

im all excited like a child cannot wait should be here monday at the latest hopefully

    Yeah, it's a big'un alright.
Be sure to read the front pages, as well as the back. It'll help you understand a lot more about how to use the book and find what you're looking for.
    Congrats, Jimmy!

i feel like a real coin collector now ,i got the red and blue books too ,and the gold sovereign by ma marsh and coiin collectors survival manual

not to bad a starting collection for someone only into coins for last 5 months.

i now want a book that helps on grading(jimmy looks at all the people say a book cant help ya grade). But im finding this the hardest part of all and we dont even go to the extremes of grading the usa does.

If you're talking about grading US coins, then there are two books that I would recommend.
    A.N.A. Grading Standards, and Photograde.
Don't know who told you that books can't help you, but I'd say that advice was misleading.
Now, if you're talking about the difference between a so-called MS-68 and an MS-69, that's another subject. That's a fad that I don't subscribe to.

Grading; right best way for those Brit coins. (You've probably got the Spinks guideline, what use it is  ), the way to go is use the picture there as a template. Go browsing around for examples of the coins you are interested in grading in the top condition you can find, i.e BU. Memorise what the coin should look like, then look at an EF specimen, a VF, an F and anything below. Compare this with the book. Slowly you'll pick it up like you wouldn't believe.
