So I picked up this roll over the weekend and am absolutely torn as to whether or not I should open it!!! I don't know if being in the original roll gives it some sort of "premium" to the value as I normally only deal with individual coins. The fact that there could possibly be a steel penny in there intrigues me even more, highly unlikely, but that's part of the fun of the hobby. Any suggestions or input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Wow! Very cool find. You got that Roll Hunting? Amazing! Go back and see if they have any 1944 Unopened Half Dollar rolls somewhere in their vault as well! :)

Great question by the way. I would have a hard time not opening it as well. I'm eager to hear the thoughts of other CT'ers.

I didn't get it roll hunting unfortunately. My friend owns an antique store and alerts me anytime they get coins brought in. I paid less than $20 for it, so either way I don't have much invested in it.

If you have a strong rare earth magnet run it over it slowly it there is a steel cent in there it will have a slight pull!! Hopes that this helps!!
    keep up the hunt!!

I'd open it. Even in UNC 1944's are not hard to come by and aren't worth that much. With a mintage of 1+ billion they are the most minted and therefore most common wheat cent.
