    I do to. For those who don't know, they are aluminum.

    That coin was a circulating commem, sort of. :) The text on the eagle side refers to the Verfassungstag (Constitution Day): 11 August 1919 was when the president signed the "Weimar" Constitution into law. Between 1921 and 1932, this 11 August was a national holiday (but not a nationwide public holiday) in Germany.

    So this coin, including the relatively few pieces dated 1923, commemorates the 1922 Constitution Day. Shortly afterwards the pieces were basically useless due to the inflation ...

    Informative as always... thanks chrislid.

    I'll never forget, when I received my dads collection, these were in there.
    Now me, knowing absolutely nothing about coins, picked some of these up and immediately thought they were some sort of fake coins since they were so light. I had never heard of an aluminum coin. Glad I didn't do anything stupid with them.
