Im going. I had a great time the last time I went. Its a small show, but fun and some of the dealers were very personable fellas! I didn't share it at the time, but I had an awkward moment at that show. Check it out: I was trying to negotiate a possible trade + cash for a National note from my hometown. We had been gabbing for a bit, and compared and allowed each other to examine stacks of notes (his were far nicer than mine. ) He had already taken out two stacks of notes in holders and after he came to realize I wasn't playing games he decided to show me his private collection. I was excited to see it; I remember mentioning it in the other thread. We decided to clear the top of his case for viewing. I brought my stuff to the show in a big zippered binder, and as I was replacing my notes into the binder I heard the dealer say, "where's that other stack of notes?" I just kinda froze, not immediately knowing what to do... I opened my binder back up all the way, unasked, looked at him and just shrugged a little. After looking around quickly, he realized he had shuffled the two stacks of notes in holders together. We just shrugged it off, and no further mention was made. Like it never even happened, though it now will live on eternally here Needless to say though, that when prior to the vibe killer he had seemed more amiable to my offer, afterward he only wanted cash, and I know it seemed higher than retail because he knows I wanted a National from my hometown. Then again, they were part of his personal stash, and they were GEM. Then again, THEY were GEM, meaning he had duplicates... Maybe next time. Some of you may remember a certain memorable purchase.... . So are there any other fellow Minnesotan CT members attending? Or am I really as far out in the sticks as I deny I am? . Conveniently slated for the Saturday on my weekend off, on 4-20-13. From 10am-4pm in Grand Rapids, MN and hosted by the Northern Lakes Coin Club. Hope to meet a fellow CT'er in the real world some time!
I am in the cities, so would be a heck of a drive myself. Plus, local shows here do not have much in the way of ancients, I doubt a smaller show would have much. Why don't we all plan on attending the MOON show this fall? Biggest show in the state.
If I'm still in Minnesota in October, I plan to attend the MOON show. We'll have to plan something closer to that time. :thumb:
Where does the MOON show take place Chris? Cities? I'll have to look into the specific date and set something up far in advance. The whole fam damly goes on those extended trips Sounds like fun. An elderly male resident at my facility welcomed visitors with a full moon show through the big picture windows in the main dining room as they came in the main entrance evening before last. :too-funny: Had to go hide and laugh I thought it was hilarious!
Lol. Yeah, the show is at the Earle Brown center in October. Twice a year a large show there, NW coin club show in spring, MOON in fall. At the last show literally every parking spot out of hundreds was taken.
Yes I will be going. Might even make a CoinTalk Member T-shirt or something to be more visible to other members
It's been awhile since I've been active on this forum. I plan on attending the upcoming Moon show as well. As to the CoinTalk t-shirt idea, I thought at one point in the past that Peter made that happen? Maybe one of the long time members can chime in on this one.
Just realized that MOON show falls on the weekend I'm committed to work. Here's hoping I can entice someone into working it for me. :/
Just got the go-ahead from Peter to make a CoinTalk Tshirt using the CT logo and my username for the show, so ya'll can see me easy. maybe if others are interested we could do a group thing? Kick that idea around a bit... I'm off to work
Well, unfortunately for me it looks like I will not be able to attend the show this year after all. I look forward to reading all about it here, so for those that attend please take some photos and relate your experiences at the show, that I may at least attend vicariously through you. Here's hoping we may meet at some other, future venue.
