Look at LIBERTY. I think it was struck by lightning. Or maybe its the glare off the proof like surface.
Oh man. He has morgans, mercs, liberty's and silver Canadians, all hit with a brillo pad. Nice split band '37 too.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1946-S-Walk...27?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item4ac28bb35b Here's one. realistically I'd say ef-40 with noticeable abrasions in the field (particularly the obverse between her gown and "IN GOD WE TRUST."
Polishing a worn coin and calling it uncirculated is like pulling an old rusted car out of a junk yard, throwing some paint and wax on it and calling it factory new condition.
I wouldn't buy it for nobody's business. Most likely it's been cracked out of a "details grade" slab, I would pass on it, like a hot potato.
Well, all it says is "Gem BU Proof like surfaces" so I have to agree. The surfaces are like a "Gem BU Proof" whatever that is, I mean the surfaces ARE copper in both cases so they are alike......right??? Also, he took a very good picture.........
It's this kind of junk that drives me nuts... 20% off no less. Just another reason to see a coin in your hand before you buy... only this one is obvious.
Yep, lack of detail but no obvious wear instead a roughened surface on the devices, raised blems in the field yet a PL look to the fields. but the blems are not polished. The action of the EDM leaves the resultant die with a rough surface and the occasional pits. The dies are polished to remove the roughness creating the PL look to the fields but the polishing doesn't get down into the devices or remove the larger pits in the fields.
