This was an newbie impulse buy, I know there are many fake Silver dollars out there but don't know if any of these were duped as well. I think it looks good but the wear in the word STATES concerned me, the uneven wear on the letters "T" & "A" looks off. It passed the simple magnet test. I paid $75. How did I do

What are those circular marks below and to the left of the eagle's wing? They concern me. However, I believe your coin is genuine.

The coin is genuine. It's an O.109, R1

Unfortunate surface damage on the reverse would keep it from grading, though. It has nice VF-Details.

I just seen another on Ebay and the letters are worn exactly the same, that eases my mind, but what about value?

The marks on reverse are pings from something pointed- not sure what.

I buy these to put away for the kids, I know it's not the best quality just what I could afford. Was it worth the $75.?

That isn't wear - it's the result of a weak strike.

Weakness in and around the scroll is typical of the Capped Bust series.

Not a bargain at $75, but you didn't get robbed either.

VF bid is $70, but with the damage your coin has sustain, realistically, it's worth closer $50.

The reverse of the coin is not in the best of condition. There appears to be several pick marks near the eagles wing. It's grading as F-12 in my eyes.

I wouldn't say you did bad, but you didn't do good, so it's so-so.

If you spend a little more, you can always get a better coin. This is a solid VF-35 in PCGS plastic and I paid under $135 for it.
