    This one arrived today. Now these really have some presence in hand.

    I know it is small compared to many other Ptolemaic bronzes but it is still large compared to almost every other coin in my collection.

    Ptolemaic Kingdom, Ptolemy IV Philopator (221 - 204 B.C.)
    Bronze hemidrachm
    Obv:- Horned head of Zeus Ammon right, wearing taenia;
    Rev:- ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΠΤΟΛΕΜΑΙΟΥ, eagle standing left on thunderbolt, wings closed, filleted cornucopia left, ∆Ι between eagle's legs
    Minted in Alexandria
    References:- Svoronos 1127; SNG Cop 202; Noeske 145; BMC Ptolemies p. 57, 109 - 110; Weiser 50 (Ptolemy II, 253 - 249 B.C.)

    33.40 g. 33.72 mm

    My wife's got one of these and you could kill a small elephant if ya threw the coin and it landed just right. :devil:

    Nice addition! :)

    I own a couple of 70+ grammers ... I love to hold them and show 'em off (they really are heavy in your hand ... cool feeling) ...

    => your coin has fantastic eye-appeal (super, warm colours and great contract between the toning and the higher, worn areas) ... full points!!

    Curious => do you know if her coin is a Philopator? (I'm only asking, because perhaps different coin-denominations have the eagle doing different "tricks" ... head facing right, left, two eagles, etc, etc)

    Cheers
