Anyone else planning on attending? This will be my first ever coin show, so I don't know what to expect. Should I look forward to and save up some money for any good deals or will they all be high retail prices?

Maybe, we all can plan on buying/selling/trading with each other at the show? I'd be interested in buying and maybe trading. I've pretty much exclusively been buying from here. Coin shops here are pricier than ebay and ebay is pricey to begin with!

I'll be going - CICF is primarily ancient/world coins, so if you're interested in that area, you'll probably find something you like. It's a smaller show (with expensive parking) and a bit "quieter" than most shows (at least when I've been there). The more exciting show in the Chicago area is CSNS coming the week right after CICF and there will be a lot of dealers and excitement.

    Hope that helps!

Still interested in picking up a slabbed platinum 3 rouble, preferably MS60 or higher. I'm really hoping I can find a good price on one, at the show!

As I may have previously mentioned, I invest in coins (I know.. I know... it's a bad idea). So, I might also be interested in trading a whole lot of my Morgans (raw and slabbed) for 1-2 high priced coins. Maybe an 1895 proof Morgan? Can I expect the dealers to be willing to do this? And if so, can I expect to get a good deal. Say, if they valued their coin at retail they'd be willing to value my coins at retail as well?

Thanks Joe. I'm definitely interested in world coins. Not so sure about ancients.

I've had my eyes on the platinum 3 rouble and Joao V 20,000 reis coins for a while now. Maybe, I'll find one I like.

Thanks for the article. That makes a lot of sense. The example he mentions where some guy wanted to trade a ton of his junk coins worth $75K for 1-2 expensive ones just so he doesn't have to worry about storing them, is exactly the feeling I've been getting lately. Yet, I continue to buy "junk"... : )

There are a large number of 20000 reis coming up in the Heritage auction at CICF. They're fantastic coins which are very fun to hold due to their size (I have one in NGC AU55). They had a few on the floor last year so you may find one there if you don't want to go through the auction.

    Good luck!

I will be going unless i have to go to Denver for business. Hopefully it will work out. I am planning on going Thursday afternoon and paying the $50.

I was just looking at HA and they're auctioning off a whole bunch of the 20000 reis at the show. I will go there on Friday and see if I can find something on the floor.

Time to start saving up some money!

    Sorry to hear it spock

For me, it'll be my first cicf. I'm excited, feel like a kid again going to my first show! In fact, it is my first real show since i was a teenager, maybe 20 years ago.

Joe, thanks for heads-up on the CSNS! First I've heard of it, but am definitely intrigued enough to start doing my homework.

I'm planning to make Friday my one big day, when I'm expecting to meet some coin pals, probably bring a variety bag of coins to trade. I think I may know a few folks here from other forums (I manage "JJF Numismatics" so I use that as my username some places).

I'd enjoy meeting up with anyone who wants to walk a couple aisles, show off some new coin picks, or share intel on the best things to see on the floor.
