p.s. a quick search of heritage confirms that NGC grades this pattern. http://coins.ha.com/common/search_r...&Ntx=mode+matchall&y=0&N=51+790+231&Nty=1&x=0
It confirms NGC has graded that pattern since 2004 or earlier. I can't tell how long it's been in the ICG holder, but I suspect for awhile.
p.s. I think I see your point now -- perhaps it was graded at ICG prior to NGC/PCGS grading them. Which begs the questions (1) when did NCG/PCGS start grading this pattern, and (2) how old is that ICG slab. Hmmm....
I'm not aware of any major pattern types such as this one, which PCGS and NGC don't grade. And I believe each of them has done so since before ICG was even founded.
I don't have a flying eagle cent yet! A pattern flying eagle is a dream coin ,beautiful & high grade. I have no problem with ICG either ,I put them up their with the other @ PCGS & NGC . Wish I could afford to pick it up,beautiful coin .
For those of us who can't afford a real 1854 Flying Eagle, there's a company online that's making commemorative strikes out of some of the more interesting patterns in US history. I picked up one of these, it's the same size of a large cent and quite thick! Here's the link. http://www.groveminting.com/flyingeagle.html
Sorry dude, not interested. Pattern rarities are better appreciated as such, rarities. There's no positive justification to reproduce these.
