    Unfortunately, retailers will only accept it at face value, or $.01.

    Try paying for a purchase using a Morgan, or Peace dollar, they will only accept it for face value or $1. They won't give you melt or numismatic premiums over melt.

    theres a coney island in northern michigan ran by a ex norfed distrubutor thats takes any kind of silver all 90%s at 20x face for food ect

    I wonder how he reports the sales on his state tax form and IRS business forms. I seem to recall reading about a similar situation and the business owner reported the face value of the 90% US silver coins as income rather than the value of the bullion. He was losing money on paper and gaining elsewhere. The tax collectors were not very accommodating.
