Yeah, i tried the number on the USPS website, same result.
Still no coin... I guessing I'm going to consider it lost forever...
Maybe one day, in a couple weeks after I've moved on it will show up in a tattered envelope and make my day.

I had a similar experience and went through all the hastle of calling customer relations and starting a track on a package and opening a case, blah blah, etc ... Then a week later the package shows up and was completely unscannable. It was as if someone dropped my package on rough concrete and it scrapped the label off, but still showed my address. So it got delivered the slow way, no scan updates, not even delivery confirmation because the label number was unreadable. But I did get my libertad with no problems, just took about 3 weeks (California to South Carolina) as a 1st class bubble mailer.

    edit: Hang in there...

I had one that showed no tracking info for a couple of weeks and nothing arrived. Finally I sent a note to the seller, he apologized, and I got the item a few days later. He didn't say so, but I think he made the labels and then just forgot to ship the item.

Shipments overseas get a new tracking number when they arrive on the other continent. So worldwide tracking is bs... One can follow the item till shipped to Europe, or vica versa. Al you can do from that time on, is wait. And if all takes too long, you can call the customer service in your own country, giving them the original tracking number. They can figure it out. You cant, online... I buy and sell worldwide, a lot, never had serious issues except one package from the US to Europe (3 coins + 1 artefact). Artefact was taken out... Sux...

A few weeks ago my tracking kept saying it was in the same sorting facility for about 4-5 days. I went to my local post office, showed them my tracking info on the phone and gave them my tracking number, and within 2 minutes, the Postmaster was on the phone with the sorting facility trying to figure it out. The facility said "it was having trouble trying to figure out where to send the package". They kept scanning it each day, and then putting it back in a pile. Well, surely enough, it showed up the following day at my house! So you might have to get someone involved...

Like these dear fellows have reported above, I've had my own unique experience. Something that I had ordered was lost in transit for more than a month. When I posted a claim, the war weary package showed up the next day. Hang in there OP. There is still hope..........:)

    Well, still nothing.

The real reason I'm digging this thread back up is because I have noticed that the USPS seems to be doing a horrible job lately. A lot of my packages have been showing up mangled like the sorting machine got hungry and decided to snack on box/envelope. I've also had another item go missing. This time, tracking shows it made it to the sort facility that is about an hour from my house, on April 1st, but now it has gone off the grid...
For a branch of the government that is trying to justify their necessity for 6 day a week delivery and outrageous cost, they are not doing a good job in my eyes.

Don't give up just yet. I experienced a similar ordeal recently. I was expecting a postal delivery from Iowa around the holidays. Thinking it was gone forever, it arrived on April 5. Postmark date 12/19/12. Arrived intact and no explanation.

    Wow, that is amazing...
It will make for a pleasant surprise then if it ever shows up.

Still not thrilled with the Post Office though...

I just shipped a package USPS Priority and printed the postage via Ebay, hand delivered it to the post office, and no tracking information showed up until it was delivered.

I do the same routine follow-up of everything I send (I use USPS exclusively) and as with you, if it gets odd in any way, I'm writing my customer and asking questions at the PO. Those folks, though, don't do anything until ten days has passed since mailing.

Most often, the item lands in the customer's mailbox before the 'tracking' window updates further. I've been told several times at my Postal Counter, by Supervisors: except for acceptance and delivery scans, much mail with 'tracking' numbers is not REQUIRED to be scanned en-route...only the highest (Express, Registered, etc.) MUST be scanned at intermediate stops. So as an earlier post said, those numbers aren't really for Tracking, unless you pay a lot more postage.

Had an issue recently that was very similar as to what everyone is talking about. I sent out a package to a buyer and a week went by and no delivery. So I went down to my local post office and they told me to wait 10 business days. This does not include weekends, holidays and the actual day you shipped it. So the counter starts day one, the day after you mail it. Well, 10 business days go by and still no package delivered. So I refunded all the money to the buyer and canceled the transaction. A week and a half later, the buyer emails me and says the package arrived and what would I like to do. I just said keep it. I was out about $10 overall including shipping, but what the heck happened to the item and where did it go? It was nearly over 3 weeks before it was delivered. Funny thing was, I had shipped out a total of 5 packages that day from the same post office and that was the only one with a problem. I guess things happen.

On a side note, the person was from Conn. and that is where I am from, but live in WV with my wife who is WVian. Her husband grew up 10 miles down the road where we live in WV and moved to Conn for his wife. Darn woman....dragging us guys all over the place! LOL! ;)
