Looks like we will keep our saturday mail deliveries:hail: http://consumerist.com/2013/04/10/usps-grants-saturday-mail-delivery-a-stay-of-execution-after-all/
This was the key to me. I rarely ever get anything desired via a letter in USPS, but I do get packages I want. Those would have continued to be delivered on Saturday.
Not excited about this at all. I'm still in favor of mail deliver Mon, Wed, and Friday only. Post office can be open 6 days a week if they want, but we don't need delivery 6 days a week. If someone needs a package to arrive on Tuesday they can use overnight mail and one local driver can deliver all of the overnight items (similar to how they do now). This would save huge amounts of money, and why not make the delivery vehicles hybrids? may cost some up front, but they could run almost exclusively on battery power around most towns.
Ugh. I was hoping they'd cut this down. There is nothing I need delivered on a Saturday that couldn't wait until Monday. If I need it that bad I can have it delivered to my PO Box and drive my own butt down there to pick it up.
