I found an enameled Morgan Silver Dollar. I believe it is minted in Philadelphia. I've searched them on the internet but can not find any (I don't know anything about coins)... Has anyone heard of these or know if they are worth anything? Any information on this coin is appreciated.

The only ones I have seen were in a ANR sale. I think depending on the quality of the enameling, they can be worth a lot.

Can you show us a picture?

I tried to upload it and it keeps saying "upload failed"
Do you know of any websites that have photos of these? I wasn't able to find any

To a coin collector, that's a damaged coin.

To an exonumia collector, it may have some value.

I don't know exactly what I was expecting, but that is a surprise. I have no clue about any possible worth. I hope someone else will stop by with a estimate for it. I couldn't even venture a guess to it's age. Most of the pieces I saw in the sale were Victorian. Sorry, I'm no help, but I'm sure there must be some kind of market for it.

I do want to thank you for sharing it with us. Very cool and unusual piece.:smile

The only ones I could find on Google were made for Western style belt buckles and from the looks of yours,it might have been taken out of one.Since both sides have been gold plated and then enameled, one in color and the other in black,it might have been in a flippable bezel that the owner could reverse to expose either side of the coin.In my opinion,it has no numismatic value but is certainly worth silver melt value and makes an interesting conversation piece.Even if it hadn't been plated and enameled, this particular year and mintmark are fairly common so I don't feel bad that it has been ruined as far as coin collectors are concerned.I'd keep it.

Most of the old pieces that have value were enameled long ago (read; contemporary).
This piece seems to have been done recently, that is a modern piece.
The older pieces have collectible value, just as love tokens are collectible, and have value.
But, this one? Probably only a very modest premium, if any.
    Sorry.
