You know, I don't think I'm too crazy about you, right now, either. Oh, lol.

Do you often have these flights of fantasy? I can pinch you real hard on this one but you know what they say about when you wake somebody up who's having a dream. Let it suffice this isn't nearly as difficult and intellectually-challenging as you make out.

I dont believe what I'm reading. The shades of ignorance have taken a nasty tone. You cant compare turning a nut to a million {yes, million)
dollar difference in 1 point grade. The pressure on these people is enourmous. Imagine having a piece in front of you that may attain "finest graded".

That's not fantasy, it's pretty dang accurate in my opinion.

That said, are some graders better than others ? Of course, that's why they use finalizers and have different levels of seniority for the graders. They also use specialized graders for certain coins. They even use graders from outside the company for certain coins.

I have learned much about you in this single thread. Thank you.

I undoubtedly dislike slabs as much as or more than you. But to denigrate another person's job? That's just rude.

I should have taken this apart when I had the chance. Here, see if this works for you...

Neither can they. That’s what their guarantees are for. And when a series is suspect they have their specialists on board who actually do get paid to think. Give them $15 an hour.

Any kid who's serious about the hobby has the brains enough to do that, differentiate softness from wear.

Now there’s where you’re really going off into fantasy. Do you not understand they’re making their own markets? They’re grading "with extreme accuracy" pursuant to their pretentious standards. They say what their coins will bear in their plastic markets, and we pay it.

Again, any kid serious about the hobby can do that, and on probably less brains than it takes to know to operate a cash register at McDonald’s.

    I kind of gathered that.

The graders are paid very well, yet many don't last very long because it is such a demanding job. Some would equate it to a sweatshop, and if you ever visited one of their facilities you would understand why.

eddiespin, I did not say I wanted a dislike button because of you. It was because of what you said.
    Don't make this personal.
I just disagree with you about your statement. I think if I spent thousands of dollars getting coins graded that I would want someone that is better then minimum wage doing it for many reason's.

Wow, eddiespin. I'm sorry, but you are so far off-base it's not even worth trying to respond.

I'm sure you'll take this the wrong way, but if I spent thousands of dollars for someone's opinion, the first thing I'd want is to learn how to grade myself and save my money for coins, not encapsulated guesses.

The graders salary is their business alone and absolutely NONE of yours. You probably think your auto mechanic, plumber, computer tech, etc etc are only worth $8.25hr too. Just because you cant find a better job right now doesnt mean other people should have to work for your low wage.

I don't take it the wrong way at all.
To each his own, actually :D
When I send it is to turn my coins into a more profitable or marketable item. If it wasn't worth it I would not send.

Agreed. My comment was more along the lines of a grader being paid at minimum wage. Guess if people wanted to take that chance SGS would have taken off. lol

I'm sure TPGs grading positions are very demanding and takes a very astute person to master. With that said, my circle of buddies think that if you invested say five years at grading at a TPG it would be like printing money out of the coin market. We suspect that is why graders have turn over as they can at some point do more on the open market than a grading salary pays.
