Around here we have coin shows all the time. The one today is one that is at the same place every third Sunday of every Month. What suprized me was how crowded it was. I got there when it was supposed to start at 9AM and the place was packed with people already. Prices were outlandishly high for just about eveything. What really surprized me was how many dealers also were selling Jewelry. One dealer had an entire table full of watches. This show always is stated as a coin and card show. Only one dealer had some cards and he was one that had jewelry and also a few stuffed animals. Maybe I was at the wrong place.
Anyway I manage to spend almost $1,000 and that was about ten times what I wanted to spend. I really went there with the intent to find a 1942D/41 Mercury Dime. Only saw one and it would have taken a 50,000 power electron microscope to detect any 41 and the price was well into the 500 dollar area. Only a 10 mile drive so still got home in plenty of time for the Bears Game.

The local show around her has a few dealers with jewelry, mainly coins but they do have jewelry. Kind of annoying to see a big gold chain over top of the coins at a COIN show. Duh!

Don't you hate going to a show and spending more than you thought? I seem to do that more often with the local show than the big shows I've been to. No idea why.

If you needed a 50,000 power scope to see the over date, then it wasn't the overdate.
I have one and yuo can see it with the naked eye.
The 1942/1 D is a different story, and needs a loop to be sure, along with the diagonistics. I cherried one form junk silver a couple of years ago.
    Good luck.
Wit, did you say those evil Bears who beat those nice Jets?
Ignore all of the above advice..

Actually it is the D I'm looking for. I have 8 sets of Merc Dimes complete except for that stupid one. All coin in the Whitman Classic albums and there is that slot for the overdates. I know about the 42/1 since I have 8 of them. It's the D that is driving me nuts. Dealers keep telling me just look at the 4. Yeah, right, you look at the 4. Like I said if it is going in my set it better be visable without magnifacation. Eventually I'll find a forger to make me one.
Another thing I've noticed is there are also people selling jewlery at the gun shows and knife shows also.

my dealer just bought a set of Dimes with the 1916-D and 1942/1 dime---I'm kindof interested in both but the 16-D I wasn't sure was real.

Your dealer is right, the 4 is the easiest spot. Check out the photo in Cherrypicker's new edition.
For once they got it right.. But, the 2/1 is very clear, a very early die state, not normal.
    Good luck
