I got this coin on eBay and I really thought I had something. It is a 1946 France 10 centimes. Krause lists one without a mintmark and just says "rare" without even giving a price. There is also a 1946 B which is more common. I couldn't find any mintmark on my coin, but I couldn't believe I was able to get a super rare coin through buy it now for a few dollars. I looked up some photos of the 1946 B and I see the mintmark is right beneath the hole and above the date. While it doesn't look like a B, I can see something on mine in that spot, so I concluded mine must be the 1946 B. However, I found a site that says there is no 1946 and that's just a mistake in the book. Does anyone know if there really is a 1946 10 centimes in existence?
I went to the referenced thread in French Numista - http://fr.numista.com/forum/topic17367.html and did the google translate and this is from one of the posters there: Hi Actually the type does not exist in this time, Paris did not strike 10centimes in 1946 (at least not in the archives). It seems that without the B 1946 is actually clogged or corners, or a mistake of the engraver who forgot the B when burning corners. There is no 1946, just variations or errors 1946b Source franc IX, p 143
Look at the obverse ("10 cmes") - at the 8 hours you can see a small cornucopia. It is the mint mark. This mint mark was used by the Beaumont-Le Roger Mint at 1943-1958. So, I think that it's a "B" type.
