I know this is an Amisos, Pontus. 85-65 BC. AE Head of youthful Dionysos right, wreathedwith ivy / AMISOU, thyrsus staff,Monogram to left. I just can't find an example of this obverse. I have been working on identifying a collection that has three examples of this coin. I have checked Wildwinds and the Sear book, with no luck. Has anyone seen this?
I may have found a reference to your coin. I believe it is SNG BM 1197. I'm not sure if it is an exact match, but I believe it to be close at least. Take a look at http://www.acsearch.info/record.html?id=43425
The coin you reference has a "winged Harpa" (hooked sword) reverse. I have seen it before and it is similar, but still no cigar. Thanks though.
Well, I tried. I looked through all my references with no luck. Maybe one of the experts will chime in soon.
