After a long lay off from collecting coins, the gold buffalos got me started again. Its seems it is just one really nice mint issure after another. My question is 2006 and unusally hot year of issure? What are some of the key coins issued by the mint of say the last 5 years or So. Opions are most welcomed
Certainly the 2001-S Sacagawea Dollar, which is in the range of $100, is one of the more expensive coins-- but its mintage is not far from either the 2000-S or the 2002-S so I'm not sure it would qualify as a "key" from that perspective. It is kind of annoying that it's probably going to cost more than the rest of the series does... annoying if you're a buyer, that is! Not so annoying if you're a seller
Not quite within the last five years, but the 1999 State Quarters set is up there too and it's pushed the 1999 Proof Set high as well. I am so glad our daughter was born in 2000! That Silver Proof Set only cost me about $40 with shipping earlier this year!
I would consider the 2001 Silver $1 Buffalo coin a key, which is a high demand item. The 20th Anniversery American Silver Eagle sets are shaping up to be another high demand item - with a mintage of 250,000 the reverse proof is definently a key in the ASE series. Same for the 1oz AGE reverse proof. And definently the 1999 Silver proof set, if you want to go back another couple of years.
whats the deal on the 05 marine corps commeritive. I was gonna get one a few months ago. but the prices seem to be dropping. does anyone think the market was flooded with these coins. i think the mintage was around 600,000.
