this whole series works so much better aesthetically as proof coins. Some of them are quite beautiful. The Hawaii Volcanoes one, and for this year I really like the Mt. Rushmore and the Ft. McHenry. Just awesome! Now in unc... probably not going to be quite as attractive
Received my 2013 proof and uncirculated haul of goodies this afternoon, a proof set, a proof ASE, the White Mountains S-mintmarked roll of 40, both the proof and uncirculated Girl Scouts silver dollars and the proof and uncirculated Five-star Generals half dollars and silver dollars. All beautiful coins! Topped this off with a slew of Irish euro coinage, too!
See how granular these "laser" proofs are? I much prefer the pre-2004 sandblasted proofs. I think pre-2004 proofs are "sleeper" coins.
Mine arrived also and I'm really (unlike Yak) diggin' on the laser effect presidentials. I think the mint is getting better and better with these........ Oh too......that Sacajawea rocks Sonlarson.
I would agree with yak. When they went to laser instead of engraving, it lost the sharp clarity in the detail. Unfortunately there is no choice here so its love 'em or leave 'em. Since I'm more the classical collector than modern collector, I can deal with it.
