    It's doesn't matter anyways with regards to what they were called back then. The Anglo-Saxons never referred to these coins as stycas; its a name that was given to them later by numismatists.

    Very nice new score, Jango ... it has great eye appeal (it has a "come hither" look!!)

    => 800 AD ... wow, that's cool ... that falls dead-center in the middle of that coin-collection abyss!! (I don't have any coins in this era)
    => full points, Dr-J (super-cool new pick-up!!)

    I'm planning on selling what's left of my US collection as well. I have a Lincoln Cent Dansco album that's nearly full. Not even sure what I'm going to sell it for.

    I was just curious about what ancients your selling.

    If you decide to go for a year set with Charlemagne, the Islamic of choice would be Harun al Rashid who exchanged gifts with Charlemagne but is most famous as the Caliph in the 1001 Nights tales. The problem is these coins look a lot alike to those of us who don't read Arabic. They are year dated and mintmarked. I believe this is 801 AD from Bagdad.
