Looking to identify the following coins, denominations, dates, emperors: And this one, which seems a little heavy for brass, could it be debased gold? As ever, any help greatly appreciated!
It would be preferable if you done a coin at a time. Make the following adjustments to each coin. Make sure each coin side is facing correctly and rotated into proper position. Merge obverse and reverse into one photo. I'll post an example to show you what I mean. Maximianus Some of your coins might need to be cleaned up too.
I agree it looks provincial. OP, gold does not react, so it does not react in the soil either. Also, almost all ancient gold except for some electrum issues, are nearly pure. So you will never see a toned or darkly colored coin like that be gold. It will not happen. Your coins are late roman bronzes, with the exception of a debased Antoninuous, (the coin with the crown). The most interesting coin in the group to me is the one in the lower right. Its a more unusual portrait.
I couldn't get them all into one post for some reason: I've rotated some that were a bit skewed. Thanks for all the replies.
1. ) Constantine I 2.) Not sure, late Roman with a Gloria Exercitus reverse. Needs to be cleaned, maybe. 3.) Tetricus I, maybe. 4.) Valens, Victory reverse 5.) The reverse is upside down. You can only post five images per post here.
My eyes aren't good enough to make out any of the legends, even when I copy the pics and tweak the contrast. Sorry - I gave it the good old college try though.
