I am not a currency collector, but it would shock me if it greensheets so little.

This note is well undergraded to begin with.

I agree it looks nicer.... but there are 65EPQ's 931 B's on ebay in the $900's... I can't find a distinction price wise between the 931B and 931C in the catalogs...

Unless there is a treasure map written in lemon juice on the back, I see no reason for this note to go anywhere near this high. It might be undergraded, but 65 to 45? No way. The grader saw SOMETHING that the scan is not getting. There has to be a fold or rolls that are just not showing at this angle.

I lost my copy of the price guide, but I don't see anything obvious. Here is a 65 from heritage, same federal reserve which sold for ~ $600:

Maybe the one you linked too is a rare plate combination, or a mule note, but either way it's getting into the specialized area.

As far as the Rarity of this note, it's a low end issue and I would suggest that the final hammer on this was precipitated by those who (a) have a specialized knowledge of this particular note that the general collector does not or (b) bid absolutely insanely.

Bank Note Reporter has a FR931c (blue seal to left of district letter) as $2250.00 in CHCU 63. Even at a 45 there were 15 bidders. Somebody wanted this note bad.

One of the analysts of the bank note reported probably had an Fr. 931C they wanted sell. There's no way it should fetch that much. Perhaps two bidders were going off that valuation.

I would put it at ~$500 in Gem 65. Even though the C-type overprint is not as common as A or B, this is a widely available issue.

That's a unique serial number, there's only one like it.

One would think there can't be two notes of the same series, block and serial. But they do exist.

One pair was up for auction recently, but I can't locate it at the moment. For now check out the middle two notes below. scan0237.jpg

Yeah, I would be one of those. Those are really cool notes, funkee!
