Gutter fold or not?

    Hey all,

I just picked up this FRBN.

Is this a gutter fold that has not been opened? I'm considering pulling it out of the holder to pull the wrinkles apart. But if it's just a wrinkle and not a gutter fold, I don't want to have to send it back for grading.

I was also wondering if this was a real 63ppq. I verified it on the PCGS site that it is indeed graded as such.

    Thoughts?

Looks awful close to a gutter fold, just maybe not enough to create a real gutter? I wonder if you do "unfold" it if it will ever sit flat with such an odd group of paper deformities.

Why would just have to get it regraded? Are you planning on keeping it or selling it? Otherwise, knife open that holder, it goes back in just fine. One thing I like about the PCGS holders...

Yeah, I'm definitely considering selling it. I got it for just under $50 after a lot of eBay bucks and a $10.00 coupon.

I'd hate to see a gutter fold get away unnoticed. Frankly, I'm surprised there are no comments from PCGS.

Definitely not my area of expertise, but it looks like nothing more than an internal 'wrinkle' caused during circulation...

If you verifed it on their site why would you still wonder/question if its still a real genuine grade?

63ppq is a high grade. If this was circulation that caused the wrinkles, it would not achieve this grade.

I verified it on the pcgs site to make sure it was not a circulated note with a photoshopped label and that the wrinkles came from the BEP.

I am wondering if it's worth cutting out of the holder to try to pull the wrinkles apart to expose possible gutter folds.

Since I plan on selling this note later, I don't want to cut it out and find they are not gutter folds and have to send it back to get regraded/reholdered.

I don't think it is but it's real hard to tell from that picture through a holder.
If it is, it would be so small that I don't think it would bring a premium. I'd just leave in in the holder I think.

You're probably right. I'll have to examine it when I get it.

But errors on FRBNs are pretty rare, even more so on districts other than New York and Chicago. We'll see what happens. I'll update this thread when I get the note.
