I purchased a state quarter map/album that came with a bunch of junk silver about 6 weeks ago. Nothing special, it came with all 50 states plus District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. I glanced at it and purchase and thought it will be a nice birthday present for my nephew. Today I pulled it out to take a lookie......

Stop me if you heard this before but .........

That Wyoming quarter is the ugliest coin Ive ever seen. I can't beleive that design was accepted by the mint or the state. At first I thought I received a worn out coin and had to go online to check. Nope. Its just the most boring design ever. LOL Is Wyoming on some sort of blacklist with the mint? Every other quarter seems to have a lot of thought and detail in it.

They couldn't come up with anything better, so they copied the license plate.

They actually proposed five different design all with the same general theme, all pretty much the same design with just some tweaking of the background features.

I take that back, four designs with that theme and one with a different one. the one they picked was the worst of the bunch. If you want to see the five finalists

They also include the narrative descriptions the designs were created from. (By this time in the state quarter program it was no longer permitted for the states to submit designs or artwork, just verbal descriptions.)
