its a 1882 0 morgan are there any vams? or variety's for this year or errors this is my first morgan so not sure what to look for. also value for what ever it grades. standing up front back ect (i love the reverse picture i took) do all 2s in this series look like this
do all 2s in this series look like this is this aliment correct it looks off to me coin is in same position just flipped the mint mark also looks weird to me random picture
My guess is that it would probably grade F12. There are quite a few VAM's for this date/mm, and since you have the coin in-hand, it would be a lot easier for you to search through the list for a possible match. It would be good experience for you. http://www.vamworld.com/1882-O+VAMs Chris
Excluding the 1921, there are only three dates with a "2"......1882, 1892 & 1902. If you take a look at those dates on VAMWorld, you can compare yours against any of the photos. The alignment of the obverse and reverse appears to be normal. It may seem that it is rotated because the coin is not inserted in the 2x2 in an upright position. If you were to reinsert the coin in the 2x2 so that the motto, In God We Trust, is parallel to the edge of the 2x2, you would see that it is properly aligned. Chris
well i paid $28 for it out of a morgan/peace bin i went threw every coin in the bin looking for the best looking oldest and lowest mintage (i know mintage isent every thing i just like the lower ones)
well its the price he gets them from from some bigger wholesale dealer or something and this was about 3 weeks ago . its the only coin/silver place with in 100 miles from me
She's okay for a first Morgan, but that date, for about $60 you could have had a nice, uncirculated coin. Part of collecting is deciding on value--does one spend 30 bucks or so on a well-circulated coin, or save up and get the same date in MS for $60? To me, that is a no-brainer.
i dont have as many bumps as this on but i do have quit a few but mainly in the creveses cant get a good pic of mine should i open a new thread on these vams?
well i mainly got it to put my self over the 10 oz mark and plus i didnt have one yet but the more i look at the the more the morgans grow on me
I agree with Chris on the F-12 call. Congrats on landing your first Morgan. I have a feeling it won't be your last.........
this is very hard so far i think i have a closed 2 http://www.vamworld.com/1882-O+VAM-2 the closest i can find that looks like that mint mark is this http://www.vamworld.com/1882-O+VAM-2 i do have some tiny bumbs on the eagle but not that many and mostly in indents . could they have worn off? dont have the polish lines in ear that i can tell there is doubling at least in the 8s and theres definetly a line inside the mint mark need all the help i can get here thanks
I think $28 is just about right on. Two coin shops in my area have bumped up junk Morgan premiums in the past year as the price of silver has gone down, not like you are finding a Morgan under $30 on ebay. Last coin show I went to pretty sure the lowest Morgan bin was $28.
