    Hi guys!

I was hoping you could give me your thoughts on this coin that I've found. I am fairly new to this wonderful hobby and this is my first post on the site! Hoping maybe its something interesting, I do try and search out the answer as best I can before I put it in the ??? file lol.

I have a 1970 s penny and I'm pretty sure it is a large date. But I noticed as I got closer that there is a very distinct S turned on it side between the 9 and 7 in the date. I have not been able to find any other MM issues with this coin like this.

Hello and welcome! Im also new to the hobby as well, and I'm thinking that's a die chip you are seeing.

    Sounds about right lol

You know I figured it was going to be something simple like that too. It just really struck me at how much it looks like an S. Had to get some feedback, it was really buggin me.

My first post had similar results as well lol. I thought I found a unique 1992 ddr. I researched, couldn't find anything, and thought I would join this forum and post a pic of my $1,000,000 cent and found out it was a common plating issue lol. Im glad I didn't call the boss and tell him where to stick it

It appears too fragmented and flat to be a die chip or deterioration. It appears to me more likely just debris.

Tge smaller pieces yes I agree, but the bigger piece doesn't. Maybe its just the picture, but it looks like a die chip.

As done stated it does appear to be just a die chip. They are somewhat rare but don't really carry a premium. I say rare loosely because they are discovered quite a bit. Keep up the hunt and welcome aboard.
