Flips - vinyl vs. non-vinyl - vs. 'archival'?

I just received some flips and I thought I had ordered the 'Saflip Archival Quality' but I apparently fat-fingered the order and ended up with vinyl. Isn't this the same thing as PVC? Are they maybe OK to use for short term storage, like sending in coins for grading, or should these be disposed of?

Take a whiff. If they smell like a shower curtain, then don't use them. A lot of sellers use them for shipping (only) because they are cheaper, and they assume that the buyer will remove the coin once they receive it. Short-term storage like this poses no problem for the coin.

If they are very soft and flexible, get rid of them.

They're gone - I'm too chicken to use them even short term. I like them in that they are much more flexible than the Saflip brand, but I don't know what I could use them for.

    Thanks for all the replies.
