Hey. I know I posted recently about a purchase but I went out and bought a few more coins today and thought I should post a seperate topic for the transaction. I found a few more cents that I wanted to share. I paid 65$ for the lot. 20$ for the two cent, 20$ for the large cent, and 25$ for the flying eagle. I'd like to know if you think the purchase was fair and any other comments are appreciated. I apologize for the low quality shots. Larry
Maybe a little high, but nothing I would worry about. Just my opinion and based only off what I can see. I recommend always posting both sides of the coins.
Far too much to pay for these coins, in my opinion. The FE cent is not an original color and the large cent is heavily corroded.
No. I agree that you overpaid for the 58 1C, and 37 1C. The 65 2C looks to be the best of the bunch (assuming the general condition of the reverse is the same as the obverse), but for what you paid, I would have advised holding out and possibly throwing in a little more money for a better example.
I don't think it's fake, I just think it's abused. One thing I learned long ago is that common coins with problems are near impossible to sell and they are something I attempt to avoid.
I know a lot of these were minted in 1857-58. But since this design was around for only two years it feels like a real novelty to own one. It's hard to resist when you see a coin for the first time. In this particular store deals are hit or miss. I bought some coins there that were a great deals and others like this purchase I slightly overpaid.
The large cent is the only one I would have avoided, sure there are better examples of all of these, they aren't that bad though, slightly overpriced, but only by a few bucks or so. The Two cent is nice and FE's are sweet, one of my favorites, a little worn but whatever, you've got an FE, its all good.
