1863 Star of David on strike-damaged copper/bronze coin: ID please?

Bought a bag of misc. coppers yesterday, and this is one of several interesting older items among the dross.

Who is the man on the obverse, and what nation and face value issued? Thanks...

This is a United States Civil War token. The man is George Washington. They tended to be used as substitutes for a one cent piece, due to the shortage of coins during the War.

I'm just starting to get into CWTs, so I feel unqualified to give a current value. I can identify the dies if you want to get into that level of detail.

 

You have a Civil War token. One of the group classified as a patriotic. Catalog number is 119/398. The man on the obverse is George Washington. It should be made of copper and is very common token with the rarity of R-1. It was issued due to a shortage of coins during the American civil war. It passed as a 1¢ piece.

 

Pretty cool with the clip and all - common, but cool.
