So I have a bunch of silver and some foreign coins. I am wondering what you all do with everything you keep. I have 4 kids for whom I am tryin to fill penny books and nickel books (6 books for each kid yikes). And I have a buffalo nickel book and an IH penny book. But I don't know what to do with all the dimes and halves and such that I crh or bought.

    Just curious.

You could always keep them as an investment (in silver, I presume?) Or, you could bring them to your LCS and sell them there (or eBay, Craigslist, here in the B/S/T section, or an online bullion dealer). Just be sure to know what the value is of whatever you're selling so you don't get ripped off, but also understand that a store needs to make money and pay the bills. Keep these in mind when selling.

I like to keep what I find CRH. It shows that the time and effort I put into it are worth it :D

I think I am definitely hanging onto them. For the investment as well as a trophy like you pointed out. Being that you do keep the crh finds, how do you store them. I'm trying to get some ideas.

I have a, erm..., 'container' that I use to keep the junk silver I come across in. When I get enough, I put them in a plastic tube that stores a roll's worth.

I usually keep the more exciting coins (unc, nicely toned, older) in standard 2x2 cardboard flips.

I have a pre-used plastic soup bowl that I am throwing everything in. Pre-64 nickels, wheates, and silvers all go into there :)

No sure what to do when the bowl is full. I suppose.. use another bowl.

Save them as an investment; the silver and varieties at least. Copper Memorials I sell on ebay as well as Jefferson nickels (once I get enough of a particular date-mint to make a roll of 40). I sell the proofs and <10 mil Jeffersons by themselves. Thinking about selling my Wheaties on eBay too.

I sell the silver once I acquire enough to make the effort worthwhile. I do that so I can pour the proceeds into nice(r) numismatic coins for long term holding. Due to the history of the price of silver, I don't see the current $28-29 per oz sustaining in the future, so plan to reinvest the roll searching returns back into my long term coin collection holdings.

I search for silver and when I find coins that are not silver that have a premium I sell them and buy silver with that money. I also keep all pre 1960 Jeffersons where I have averaged about .09 a coin when selling rolls of them. I keep a spread sheet for my amusement of what I bought cois for (being face) and the profit made. I recently found a 1925 Canadian Nickel where I sold it for $41 and bought a fractional .999 gold coin for the same price. So when it came down to it my gold coin cost me .05.

A 2000 Gerorge Washington Liberian $25 peice. They are .73 grams of .999 gold. Very small and have about $38 in gold in them currently. Got it on eBay. There are few on there here and there. Very affordable gold, but I wouldn't spend much more than what I did because the premium would be too high. I have seen them recently sell for melt as well.

The coin is only 11mm wide.

Ok thanks for the ideas. I think I'm going to try to make a binder with 2x2 flips of the first year of each obverse change for each denomination. So like a 1909 Lincoln penny (ha) and a 1938 Jefferson nickel. My vision is to have a mini timeline of coinage. And I'm going to do this with my foreign coins as well.

At this point it will give me something to worry about other than making the most profit.

    What do you all think?

Collect however you want. It's always ultimately up to you. I love the idea, and if that's you interest, then go for it.
