I need help with this coin. Is it a real or fake JC Denarius:

While these issues come in a large amount of styles, nothing at all about that coin looks or feels right. At BEST it would be a comtemporary counterfeit, but I wouldn't touch it.

That was my initial feeling as well, but I wanted to run it bast you guys before I decided against it completely. Thanks Medman

Well I would wait to get some others opinions, remember I don't collect Romans. ;)

I don't own one of these but I have seen a few, and I would have to agree here with Medoraman. It doesn't smell right to me. I think the coin overall is poor. and my first impression is that the elephant looks wrong, and the reverse devices seem cartoonish to me. I have to say these come in a variety of styles, all of which I am not familiar with but this doesn't smell right. A wise man once said if there is doubt, then there is no doubt.

  7. I saw this guy's coins on ebay as well. All of his coins are complete replicated garbage. I think he was selling out of Bulgaria. I have a hard time trusting anything out of Eastern Europe or Western Asia.

I have one of course and I dont like the look either. I know there is various styles of the elephant. Still have the article in a celator issue. If this was real it would fall into the more odder looking elephant.

Since the poster above me has seen other coins of this seller and they look alike, it's stay away even more.

Thanks Batman. I already passed. I saw that one on the forgery list, but I didn't think it was a match. But it's good to have the experts chime in. Like someone said, if you have doubts.......

Auw ! I saw this thread a bit late. Yup, fake indeed. Modern stuff. I've seen these many times, often for sale on ebay... Leave it !
